How to get to your boarding point

  • Metro: take the Green Line to Creek station, the last stop. Al Jaddaf station is the next stop back toward the city. Creek station isn’t a comfortable walk from the boarding point, so most visitors continue by water taxi (section 3) or a short taxi.
  • Metro from Downtown: from Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall, take the Red Line, then change to the Green Line. A route planner estimates about 20–30 minutes from central stations.
  • Metro fare: typically AED 3–7.5 depending on zones.
  • Bus: routes 44, 53, 24, 43, F08 and 32C serve Dubai Festival City, per transit-planner and property-guide sources.
    • Use the stop “Dubai Festival City, Festival Centre 1”. A Headout listing calls it a 5-minute walk to the meeting point, while a transit planner measures about 1.2 km from the marine station, so these differ.
    • Typical bus fare is about AED 2–4.
    • Route 53 reportedly runs late (around 1 am), but that comes from an older listing.
  • Last-mile tip: after dinner cruises (finishing about 9:00–9:30 pm), buses and the water taxi are still running, but a taxi back to the hotel is easier.
  • Tell the driver: drop-off at the InterContinental Hotel Dubai Festival City. Walk through the lobby to the waterfront behind the building.
  • Taxi fare basics: meter starts at AED 5 (AED 5.50 from 10 pm to 6 am), with a minimum fare of AED 12 and about AED 2 per km. Dubai Taxi, Careem and Uber all work.
  • Rough costs:
    • Downtown/Burj Khalifa: about AED 35–50, 15–25 minutes.
    • Dubai Marina: about AED 90–120, 35–50 minutes.
    • Dubai Airport (DXB): short ride, but the AED 25 airport start fare applies, so roughly AED 35–45, about 10 minutes.
    • Creek Metro station: about 7 minutes by taxi. A route planner puts it at roughly $5–7.
  • Driving: park at Dubai Festival City Mall North Parking (P1), then follow signs to the Waterfront Promenade and walk behind the InterContinental.
  • Timing: one abra listing asks you to arrive at least 20 minutes before departure. Add extra time on Friday and Saturday evenings and when the IMAGINE show draws crowds.
  • Transfers: some dinner cruise options include hotel pick-up, so check your booking option before arranging your own ride.
  • Route: RTA air-conditioned abra BM2, from Al Jaddaf Marine Station to Dubai Festival City.
  • Connection: Al Jaddaf Marine Station is beside Creek Metro. Sources describe a short walk or a shaded buggy link.
  • Fare: AED 2 per person each way, paid by cash, card or Nol card.
  • Duration: about 8–10 minutes on the water, with boats roughly every 10–20 minutes.
  • Timings:
    • Monday–Thursday: 7:30 am – 11:30 pm
    • Friday: 7:30 am – 11 pm
    • Saturday–Sunday: 7:30 am – midnight.

Also useful:

  • Arrive at the station about 5 minutes before departure.
  • Services can be cancelled for weather or safety.
  • The boat is a local commuter service. It is not your cruise.
  • On weekends only, CR9 runs from Dubai Festival City to Dubai Creek Harbour (4:00–11:45 pm, AED 2).

Traffic, timing and practical tips

  • Arrive early to your pier; check in about 15 minutes before departure.
  • If you’re choosing a dinner or show combo, factor in transfer times to La Perle or another venue.
  • For sunset cruises, expect golden hour lighting; bring a light jacket for cooler air on the water.
  • If you have mobility needs, confirm pier access and deck options with the operator in advance.
  • Dress code is generally smart casual for dinner cruises; check the specific cruise for any restrictions.

Notes: The canal area is popular for evening views, so expect crowds around peak times. Verify exact show times and transfer details on your voucher.

Getting around once you're there

  • Walking routes: The canal promenade is walkable with shaded sections along the waterfront. Elevation changes are gentle in most parts.
  • Public transit: Metro stops at Festival City and Al Jaddaf connect you to the canal piers; plan a transfer to the promenade.
  • Taxis and rideshares: Readily available for short hops to the canal piers and nearby attractions.
  • Accessibility: Some abra/dhow experiences offer wheelchair access; always confirm accessibility options when booking.

Which boarding point should I use?

  • Festival City Abra Dock: Level access for some abra experiences; walk to the signposted boarding area.
  • Al Jaddaf Dhow Pier: Boarding area is a floating pier along the canal; staff help with check-in at the gangway.
  • Bring your voucher or ID; staff will verify tickets and direct you to the correct boarding point.
