Your journey begins at a faithful recreation of a natural history museum's storage and reserve area. Fossils, skeletal casts, and paleontology artefacts are displayed as they would be in the behind-the-scenes areas of a working museum. This zone introduces the history of paleontology and explains how fossils are discovered, preserved, and studied. Allow 10–15 minutes here.
Dinosaurs: The Immersive Odyssey is a fully guided, multi-zone immersive experience at Dubai Festival City Mall, blending VR technology, life-sized animatronics, and interactive science displays to recreate the prehistoric world. Designed for all ages and opened in December 2025, it is Dubai's first experience of its kind to combine a walkthrough VR arena with physical animatronic encounters in a single, sequential journey.

Why is Dinosaurs: The Immersive Odyssey a must-visit attraction in Dubai?
Dinosaurs: The Immersive Odyssey is Dubai's only experience to combine free-roam VR, life-sized animatronics, and a museum-style paleontology intro in a single guided hour. Engaging enough for teenagers and not frightening for children as young as four, it works equally well as a family outing or a school field trip.
What to see at Dinosaurs: The Immersive Odyssey?

The Museum's Reserves

VR Odyssey
Visitors are fitted with VR headsets where they are transported to the Jurassic era to walk among life-sized dinosaurs in their natural habitat. You physically move through the space, and the VR environment responds to your movement. A guided audio narrative plays throughout, providing facts about dinosaur behaviour, habitats, and evolution. The VR arena is available for guests aged 6 and above. Allow 15–20 minutes for this zone.

Virtual to Reality
After the VR experience, you enter a physical sanctuary where the dinosaurs from your virtual journey now exist as life-sized animatronic creatures set within naturalistic forested habitats. The animatronics move, react, and create immersive encounters designed to bridge the gap between the virtual and physical worlds. The guide pauses at each animatronic for interaction and photography. Allow 10–15 minutes here.

Creative Play and Gift Shop
The final zone is a bright, family-friendly space with interactive activities and the experience's gift shop. The standout attraction is an AR drawing activity where visitors colour a dinosaur sketch and then watch it come to life as a moving animated dinosaur on a display screen. At the shop, check out a wide range of dinosaur-themed merchandise including toys, books, games, and plush figures. Allow 10–20 minutes.

Free-roaming VR arena
You physically walk through a Jurassic environment rather than watching it on a screen. It's one of the only free-roam VR experiences of its kind in Dubai.

Frequently asked questions about Dinosaurs: The Immersive Odyssey
It is a fully guided, multi-zone immersive experience that takes visitors through four sequential zones: a recreation of a museum's storage area, a free-roaming VR arena set in the Jurassic era, a physical animatronic encounter zone, and a creative play and gift shop area. The full experience takes 45 to 60 minutes and is accompanied by a guide throughout.
The experience is suitable for all ages from 4 years upward. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. The VR arena is restricted to guests aged 6 and above, but younger children enjoy all other zones fully. It is well-suited to families, school groups, couples, and corporate teams.
Yes. The VR Odyssey zone is included in all standard tickets — there are no separate VR add-on charges. The only restriction is age: the VR arena requires guests to be 6 years or older. Younger children participate in all other zones without limitation.
Visitor reviews consistently describe the experience as family-friendly and not frightening. The guide's presence throughout helps regulate the pace and tone for each group. The animatronics are large and realistic but are not designed to startle visitors aggressively. No strobe lights are used.
An audio guide is built into the VR Odyssey zone — the guided commentary plays automatically throughout the VR experience, narrating dinosaur facts and storyline context. The remaining zones are guided in-person by a staff member who accompanies the group throughout. There is no separate audio guide device for the non-VR zones.
Yes. Designated photo and video points are provided throughout the experience. Photography is particularly popular in Zone 3 (the animatronics zone) where the life-sized creatures offer striking photo opportunities. There are no restrictions on personal photography at designated points.
Dinosaurs: The Immersive Odyssey is the only experience in Dubai to combine a free-roaming VR walkthrough with life-sized physical animatronics and a museum-quality paleontology introduction in a single guided session. Outdoor dinosaur parks (such as Dubai Garden Glow's Dinosaur Park) feature static or semi-animated outdoor replicas. The Dubai Mall dinosaur skeleton is a static museum exhibit. This experience is closer in format to an immersive theatre or exhibition hybrid than a theme park or museum — with a guide, a narrative arc, and a progressive sequence of zones.
